DIVERSITY & INCLUSION IN TABLETOP GAMING

Tabletop gaming has long been a place to breed compassion and work on problem-solving skills but even in today's era of streaming RPG games, podcasts and other services, there is still a distinct lack of diversity. How do intersectional and diverse narratives inform us? Panelists will discuss ways to make games more inclusive and how to make the future even brighter for generations to come.

BREAKING THE BAMBOO CEILING: THE CONTINUED EVOLUTION OF ASIANS IN FILM, TV, AND GAMING

Despite being the largest ethnic group in the world, Asian characters still fall victim to stereotypes, tropes, and marginalization. Too often the diversity of our cultures, voices, and nationalities are lumped under a broad Asian umbrella. This year we will discuss costuming, literature, and comics (both characters and writers) as well as examining the status of AAPI representation in movies, TV, and games. Are there ways that we can effect better inclusion?

Location: TCC L3 – Room 1

Speakers: Meris Mullaley, JC Lau, Kristine Hassell, Tony Loiseleur, Sonja Marcus
